About Beds & Bars

Beds & Bars is the team behind some of Europe’s best‑loved backpacker hostels, bars, and pubs, including St Christopher’s Inns and Belushi’s. Across 9 cities in 7 countries, we look after lively, social spaces where travellers come to sleep, eat, drink, meet new people, and feel at home.

Everything we do sits on four simple cornerstones:
Safety. Security. Fun. Value for money.

Our motto, “Live Your Life,” isn’t just something we stick on a wall, it’s how we operate. We want our guests, our customers, and our team to feel supported, included, and able to make the most of their time with us.

The Role

We are looking for a skilled, reliable Maintenance Technician to support all our London sites. This is a hands‑on role, ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, keeping buildings running smoothly, and taking pride in a job well done.

You will be our go‑to person for repairs, preventative maintenance, and keeping everything across our pubs, hostels, bars, and guest spaces in great shape. A background in maintenance is essential, and we must have someone confident in carpentry, as this will be a key part of your day‑to‑day work.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Carrying out planned maintenance on plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems.
  • Handling repairs quickly and safely, making sure everything meets safety standards.
  • Following preventative maintenance schedules to keep equipment running smoothly.
  • Keeping all sites safe by identifying and resolving issues before they become problems.
  • Troubleshooting faults and suggesting cost‑effective solutions.
  • Keeping accurate records of repairs, inspections, and parts used.
  • Working with different departments to minimise disruption during repairs.
  • Responding to emergency maintenance issues when they arise.
  • Looking after stock, tools, and maintaining tidy workspaces.

This role spans everything from guest rooms to bar and kitchen areas, and outdoor spaces. No two days are the same.

What We’re Looking For

Must‑Have Skills:

  • Strong carpentry skills — this is essential for the role.
  • Previous experience in a general maintenance role.
  • Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and various maintenance equipment.
  • Good problem‑solving skills and a practical, hands‑on approach.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
  • Someone who’s friendly, adaptable, and happy working both independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to lift and move heavy items.
  • Comfortable standing, walking, climbing ladders, and working at height.
  • Able to work in different environments (heat, cold, tight spaces, etc.).

Role Requirements

To apply, you must:

  • Hold a clean and valid driving licence. You will be travelling between multiple London sites as part of the role.
  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Provide any documentation required by local or national regulations.
  • Have an active bank account in your own name.

Why Join Us?

Our maintenance team is a key part of keeping our London sites running smoothly and safely. You will be joining a supportive, diverse group of people who genuinely care about creating great experiences, for each other and for our guests.

You’ll get:

  • 50% off food and drink in all Beds & Bars venues.
  • 50% off stays at St Christopher’s Inns across Europe, plus discounts with partner hostels.
  • Industry‑recognised training.
  • Regular incentives, rewards, and trips away.
  • Employee of the Month, Quarter & Year awards (with cash bonuses).
  • Free mental health support and counselling.
  • Access to our award‑winning development programmes.

If you enjoy keeping buildings running smoothly, working with your hands, and supporting a company full of energy and personality, we would love to hear from you.

Equality Statement

We are proud to be an equal‑opportunity employer. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and do not discriminate based on age, disability, gender, nationality, race, religion, sexual orientation, or any other protected status.
